SlipBox

A slip-box is really just this: a loose collection of slips stuffed into a box. Each time you have an idea that seems worth remembering you scribble down a note on an (electronic) slip and put it into the box. Then you can forget about it. When the time comes that you need those ideas, the functionality of the program helps you to quickly find relevant slips and, what is more, relations and links between different slips by means of associative searches.

My implementation of this conception (SlipBox) provides provides a plug-in architecture to establish interfaces to other programs, eg to BibDesk, a program to manage references, and Graphviz, a graph visualisation tool.

(No, there is no version for Windows. But there is a similar program, Zettelkasten – German for slip-box. However, it is only available in German.)

Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 (It used to run on some 10.3.9 systems; however, your best bet is to use version 0.6, which you can find on the archive page.)
