A box contains a collection of slips. While the original, wooden box could indeed only hold the slips, an electronic box like it is realised by SlipBox provides search functions and other methods to quickly access the knowledge stored on the slips and to find connections between them. In particular it computes the scents between slips, between keywords and between the two.
Note: If you use SlipBox the way it is conceptualised, you should only have one giant box. After all, the more kowledge you can interconnect, the more interesting connections you will get. However, there are cases where this may not be desirable, eg if you want to maintain you main box for your scientific notes but a separate box for your recipies. SlipBox, therefore, is a document-based application that allows you to use multiple boxes: each box is one document stored in a separate file.
