General preferences

Under Application Launch you can select the SlipBox document that is opened when you start the application:
If Check for updates automatically is active, SlipBox tries to connect to the Internet on application launch to see if a new version is available.
Display a random slip when opening a slip-box means that SlipBox displays a randomly chosen slip from the slip-box to be to be opened. Otherwise, the slip with the highest slip ID in the box will be shown.
Terminate when last window is closed quits the application if there are no more slip-boxes. This behaviour is similar to the System Preferences and is particularly useful if you follow the idea of just having one slip-box for everything.
Keep backup file, Auto-save every X min and Save window position when closing a slip-box have the usual functionality.
Tab in Slip Text selects Keywords Field redefines the default key binding of the <tab> key when the cursor is in the slip text field in the slip view. Instead of inserting a tab character in the slip text the selection changes from the slip text to the keywords field. Tabs can be inserted with <alt>+<tab>. If this option is not selected, pressing <ctrl>+<tab> changes from the slip text field to the keywords field.
Show title column in Search View displays a column in the search results table in the search view containing the slip titles.
Auto-complete keywords/sources open auto-completion windows when text is typed in the keywords/source field in the slip view. The completions are the keywords in the box and the sources used in the box, respectively.
Fonts & Colour preferences

Two fonts can be specified:
The Highlight Colour is the colour that is used by the Highlight Text function, which is available in the Format menu.
Spotlight preferences

SlipBox can generate files that are searchable by Spotlight. This allows to search the content of SlipBox files even if the application is not running. These files cannot be seen by other users.
This view allows to specify how frequently the index files that are searched by Spotlight are generated. By clicking the Delete Spotlight files button, all index files in the cache that is searched by Spotlight are deleted. This is useful, for example, if Spotlight shows hits for slip-boxes that do not exist any more.
Note: Spotlight files are only generated if a spotlight plug-in is loaded, for example the Simple Spotlight plug-in that comes with SlipBox. Plug-ins can be loaded in the Plug-ins preferences.
Plug-in preferences

The plug-in preferences show the plug-ins that are available
By clicking the button in the left column a plug-in is activated. If it is not yet available locally, it will be downloaded from the SlipBox server. Clicking on the "i" icon in the rightmost column displays a plug-in's documentation (if the plug-in is available locally and provides a documentation). The text field at the bottom gives a short description of a plug-in (which is available regardless of whether the plug-in is installed locally). By clicking the Update button SlipBox connect to the server to check for new versions as well as for new plug-ins.
