Services menu

SlipBox adds two services to the Services menu.

The Make New Slip service creates new slips from within other programs. The selected content is copied to the text field of the new slip. This function also allows to create a new slip with the content of files, most notably text and image files. (Only the most common file types are currently supported. Email me if you require additional file types.) For this, select a file in the Finder and use this Service.

The Search Box service initiates a keyword search of the currently active slip-box.

If SlipBox is not running when a service is called, it is launched and the default box is opened.

The keyboard shortcuts for the services can be changed. This is useful if the default shortcut is already assigned otherwise. These steps show how to change a shortcut.

  1. Quit SlipBox.
  2. Open the SlipBox package (probably located in /Applications; right-click on a package and select Show package contents to open a package).
  3. Open the folder Contents.
  4. Open the file Info.plist in the Property List Editor.
  5. Open the entry NSServices/#/NSKeyEquivalent/default (where # is a number).
  6. Change the value of this field to the new key.
  7. Save the file.
  8. The change takes effect the next time you log in.
