Sagarinami. Watazumi Dōso (海童 道祖) played Nezasa Shirabe (根笹調) as a prelude to Sagariha (下り葉), leaving out the last two phrases of Nezasa Shirabe, naming it ‘Sagarinami’. I made this video for the ESS Winter Concert 2022.
Tabibito no uta (旅人の唄; Traveller’s Song) by Fukuda Rando (福田蘭童).
Awa Odori (阿波踊り), a traditional festival song/dance from Tokushima (徳島) on Shikoku (四国), on a 6-hon shinobue and the Roland TAIKO-1.
Takiochi (滝落; Waterfall) on a 2.4 shakuhachi (maker: Miura Ryuho). This is the KSK version (国際尺八研修館).

Samazama • 様様

My album Samazama (様様) is available as digital download on Bandcamp and for streaming on all the usual services. The CD booklet is available as a free download. The album features a mix of:

  • Traditional honkyoku originating from the monks of the Fuke school of Zen Buddhism and their practice of suizen (blowing meditation)
  • Works by famous composer and shakuhachi master Fukuda Randō (福田蘭童; 1906–1976)
  • Popular Japanese songs
  • New compositions
